| Hi there!
Thanks for visiting. This is primarily my
radio/hobby Web page, but don't be surprised if
you eventually find information here about space
and astronomy, flying, sports, technology,
blogging or who knows what. I live in Stratford, PEI
(Canada) since moving here in February, 2007.
Prior to 2007, I made my home
next to the Miramichi River in beautiful Doaktown, New Brunswick,
Canada. My family put down roots there in
1976. For most of my life before that I was
a Quebecker. I was born and raised in Lachine - a
suburb of Montreal.
I worked as a broadcaster at
two private radio stations in New Brunswick, CFAN
in Newcastle and CFNB in Fredericton. I also used
to be a member of the New Brunswick Legislature but I am now officially retired from
partisan politics. For some time I still kept a
little iron in the fire by writing columns for a
couple of New Brunswick newspapers, The
Daily Gleaner and
The Miramichi Leader. I also was a member of the CBC Radio 1
weekly political panel in New Brunswick for
several years.
Presently, I am a member of the
Veterans Review and Appeal Board, based in Charlottetown. I adjudicate
pension claims for Canada's military and RCMP
veterans and still-serving members.
Although my current position
prevents me from any engagement in partisan
politics, I maintain a keen interest in public
affairs and spend a considerable part of my free
time reading up on current events.
Before my appointment to VRAB I
taught networking, operating systems and computer
support for Atlantic
Business College in
Fredericton. I also dabbled in satellite TV work
and writing and served for over 20 years as a
volunteer firefighter. I am a severe weather
reporter, stock car racing fan, and East Coast
Canadian music fan. For several years I also
volunteered as the public address announcer and
sound producer for the Doaktown Hitmen Senior
Hockey team.
I am also a budding pilot, and
did my first solo in Charlottetown on 25 June
2009 in my shared Piper Cherokee 140. Here is a
photo of me taxiing in after that flight.

I have built up
more solo and dual flight time since then.
For over 30 years
I have enjoyed the hobby of radio communications.
Starting as a broadcast band (AM MW) listener I
branched out into shortwave listening and (1984)
amateur radio. First issued the call letters
VE1APG, I have operated the station VE1JH for
about 15 years. I still dabble in MW and SW DX
listening, and am a member and/or supporter of
several radio-related clubs and organizations
including...
